Default Prima Guide sold out?

I pre ordered my Guide to Nightfall from Walmart over a week ago. The order said it'd arrive on the 3rd. I knew it didn't come out till the third so I took that with a grain of salt, figuring they'd ship it today.
I get up this morning and check my order. It's still saying it's expected delivery date is the 3rd.

The mail comes about noon, no guide (( no huge surprise)) so I check again to see if the order is being shipped.

The order was simply canceled. No excuse. No reason. Just "Order canceled."

I call up Walmart.com. Get some idiot in FL that tells me that the distributor didn't give WALMART their order. Yeah... like any distributor is going to dick a multi milliondollar buyer like walmart. Anyway the guy on the phone gets belligerent with me, all like "Did you hear the words that came out of my mouth????" and then told me he had no manager when I asked to speak with one. That he was alone.... in the walmart call center and had no emploee number or anything to identify him for complaint. I knew the guy was lying... Still not really part of my thing here.

I hang up, call back and get the call center in Idaho or something. Much more helpful lady there. (( Who coiencidentally tells me the guy was lying, that they always have managers for stuff like that)) She tells me that Walmart got so many pre-orders that they sold out before they filled them all, and prima isn't shipping more.

I Thank her and go looking online.

____ Everywhere____ seems to be sold out. I tried Amazon, I tried Barnes and Nobels. I tried Booksamillion. I Tried gamestop and EB. I tryed bookworld. I tried overstock. I Tried gamezone....

None of the places had any left. As I said above I ordered mine over a week ago so I never really thought about them selling out.

Anyone out there having this problem or know a place where I can order the guide?

Try Target. They say online that they have some available. I am going to the store and hope they have some there. I too couldn't find any other online stores that had some available.

Checked Target online and they said estimated delivery 3 to 6 weeks or something.

And yeah.. Walmart is seriously pissin' me off.

Thing is. I ordered my Collectors Edition of Nightfall from there a month ago... Now I'm all twitchy that they might sell out of that too.

If youre near a Borders, maybe try that too- even if they get less in stock then say, eb games or something - I dont think the average joe uses Borders for much to do with video games so they might have a few.

No Chapters in BC has it in stock and their website says "temporarily unavailable for order." I'm guessing it hasn't been printed yet. I seem to remember reading somewhere where Gaile said it hadn't even been announced yet.

Edit: here it is http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10053960

With Prophecies and Factions, the Prima Guides didnt come out until two days before the game release (if I'm remembering correctly). I don't expect this guide to come out any earlier...

Why are you bothering with the Prima Guild still?

Looking through some parts of GuildWiki, you'll see a lot of areas where it states that the Prima Guide was wrong.

Even worse, they make the guide, then about a month later, a bunch of skills get updated, making it useless.

I just don't see the point.

1) it's supposed to be out today, (Oct 3rd) Which lets me sit around for about a month getting the feel for the game and what not before hand.

2) My birthday is next week and the game isn't out till the end of the month, add in shipping and I probably won't get the game for a month so this is something tangable I can get for my birthday.

3) You can't ( Easily) Take guild wiki into the bathroom with you and read. Or read sacked out on the couch. Or flip though WHILE you're playing. (( You can but it's slow to alt tab between game and live internet feed on your browser and back and it'll slow down your game and what not

4) I like looking though at the pictures and art work with out having something chew my ass off while I'm trying to do so. I'm one of the guys that buy the CE for the art books and what not. Not just the 'in game emote'.

5) Sure some of the stuff is going to be changed, but what's not will still be of help, as will the maps.

Prima Guides are fun to read - even if they are inaccurate

I know I cant trust em (ever see EverQuests?),
but I still enjoy the guides

My two cents
1. Guide is worthless, anything you need you can get at guildwiki and you know it is right and a lot more useful.
2. Why are you guys even ordering the game from stores? Why don't you just download the game the day it is released from the GW store? It may take a long time but no longer than overnight.

Never buy Strategy Guides IMO, they are inaccurate, out of date, and the game will update and the things in the guide are wrong.

I like the Box? Also CE cannot be purchased from the In Game Store.

I don't trust down loads either. They're huge, if you have a hiccup in the middle your files get corrupted, you gotta dig um out, then redown load, not to mention you can only put it on one computer... then you don't have the disks if you want to put them on a new computer.. You don't get anything physical. It all makes me twitchy.

And yeah, I bought the CE. I like the art books and extras. So it wouldn't make sense for me anyway.

If the prima books sells out that means the game will be a sell out!

Chapter 3 looks like a win for sure.

this will also deturmine the future gw, and where it will go.

Not sure why you'd all want the Guide anyhow? Its always full of mistakes and outdated within days.

But each to their own
